ACT1 Theater Volunteer Guild

Guild Members ? The heart of the ACT1 Volunteer Guild!  The individual volunteers are responsible for carrying out the various job functions performed by the Guild. 

Guild Members should:
  • Complete membership application
  • Be dependable in carrying out assigned tasks
  • Attend Guild meetings
  • Meet member requirements detailed in the below
  • Add to the audience?s theater going experience
  • Reap the benefits listed below
  • Have fun!

What Guild Members Do

As mentioned above, the Guild Members are the heart of the volunteer Guild.  Guild members perform the various acts needed to make all aspects of the theater production successful and to maximize the audience?s theater going experience.

There are opportunities for various levels of experience, skill and talent to participate in the Guild.  Experience in ACT1?s Guild or other community theater productions is beneficial but not required.  There are a variety of areas where volunteers of all levels can exercise their love for theater.

For some responsibilities within the Guild, a certain level of talent or skill is required (such as with set artists or costumes) therefore not every person is suitable for every volunteer position.  Some roles will by nature require some ?training? to perform their function.  Others will depend primarily on those who already possess a certain level of skill.  These determinations will be made by the committee chair of the various roles.

All Guild members need to carry out their assigned role once they commit.  Actors, directors, stage managers, house managers, technicians and any number of other people are depending on each Guild member to perform their job and are depending upon a Guild member to follow through with his/her commitment.

Requirements of Guild Members

The following are required of all Guild members:

  • Complete membership application
  • Demonstrate interest in and a commitment to volunteerism in the theater
  • Be willing and able to commit to the membership expectations
  • Be dependable in carrying out assigned roles
  • Attend Guild meetings and participate on committees, reliably attending 75% of meetings and activities
  • Serve on one or more committees and assist in the production of a play

Guild Membership Benefits

The following are the benefits to Guild members who actively support ACT1 Theater and its productions:
  • Participation as part of the cast, staff or crew in production of plays Participation in Guild meetings, auditions, plays, practices, etc. Program Recognition Active assistance in production of a play entitles Guild member to receive 2 free tickets to that play a family pass for the Guild member and their guests to attend the Sneak Peek Performance Preview ACT1 Newsletter Can contribute materials for publication in the newsletter and/or the ACT1 website Good friends, good times, and the satisfaction of know that you have contributed to the joy that only live theater can bring!
