ACT1 Theater announces auditions for our holiday production:
Dickens Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts
Auditions: Monday, August 21st starting at 7:00 pm or Tuesday, August 22nd starting at 7:00 pm, audition slots by appointment only.
Callback auditions will be on Thursday, August 24th at 7:00 pm.
Actors should prepare a comedic monologue one minute or less in the style of the show. Actors should be prepared to read sides at the director’s discretion. Sign up for an audition spot at (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080c4da4aa29a3f49-audition1).
We’ll have you sign in and fill out an audition form to tell us about yourself. Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before – experience is not required. If you have a headshot, bring it along. If not, we’ll take a picture to help us remember who’s who after you’re gone. If an auditioner is under the age of 18, they must have a parent present and have that parent sign minor participation forms. No parts are pre-cast, and everyone who gets a part will have auditioned at one of the 2 originally scheduled times, unless special arrangements are made in advance. We also understand that rehearsals may overlap with the end of current productions for some actors. We ask that you provide us with details of conflicts and impacts at your audition.
If invited back for the callbacks on August 24th, 7 PM – 10 PM, you will be reading with other actors from the script so please block the entire duration.
From the bonny shores of England comes the Styckes-Upon-Thump Repertory Theatre Company, a stuffy old travelling troupe embarking on their fifteenth annual farewell tour of the Dickens’ tale. Mayhem ensues as this professional company scrambles to keep the show going and everything that could possibly go wrong does, to hilarious, ridiculous results!
Cast: Four males, three females, plus potential additional on-stage stagehands, number to be determined.
Our schedule calls for 3 rehearsals a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 – 10 PM and Sundays 2-5 PM, followed by 3 weekends of performances. We will do a meet and greet and read-thru on Saturday, August 26th 2 – 5 PM. Our first rehearsal is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12th at 7 PM; you will be expected to be off-book at that rehearsal with all your lines memorized.
Currently, there are plans for 9 performances of this show: Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm– December 1st December 17th.
